ZOOM Teeth Whitening
If you want a brighter, more beautiful smile, you may qualify for ZOOM whitening treatment. ZOOM whitening is one of the most common cosmetic procedures we perform here at Elite Dental of Natick. Professional ZOOM whitening treatment is one of the safest and most effective ways to improve the aesthetics of your smile!
Why Whiten Your Teeth?
Your teeth are one of the first things a person may notice about you. Having a brighter, whiter smile can drastically improve your self-confidence and self-esteem, much to the benefit of your personal and professional life. However, ZOOM whitening bleach is only effective in certain situations.
There are two types of stains, intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic stains occur on the inside of the tooth and usually show through due to a thin enamel layer. Extrinsic stains and discolorations occur on the outside of the enamel layer. Professional ZOOM whitening treatment is most suitable for extrinsic stains, while intrinsic stains may require some other type of cosmetic treatment.
The main cause of extrinsic stains are pigment-heavy foods and beverages. Tobacco use is another leading cause of external discoloration. Reducing your consumption of these stain-causing items, along with proper oral hygiene, can help you keep your teeth whiter and healthier!
Teeth Whitening Methods
Whitening is such a popular desire that there are more whitening methods than ever before. Unfortunately, many store-bought products, such as whitening gels, strips, and trays produce lackluster results. For this reason, we always recommend professional ZOOM whitening treatment with Dr. Bethany Polnar.
Professional ZOOM whitening methods are safer and more effective than store-bought alternatives. When done correctly, your ZOOM whitening treatment could brighten your smile by up to eight shades in a single appointment! Unlike self-whitening products, there is also little or no risk of damage to your enamel and gum tissues.
During your whitening appointment, we will apply a high-concentration bleaching solution directly to the surfaces of your teeth. Depending on your individual situation, we may also use an ultraviolet light to improve results and expedite the process. The bleaching solution will be left on the enamel for about 15 minutes before we clean your teeth and repeat the process.
Particularly stubborn stains may require multiple appointments. We may also provide you with custom-fit whitening trays and bleach, so you can continue ZOOM whitening at home in the weeks or months following your procedure. A custom-fit tray, made from an impression of your teeth, is more comfortable and effective than store-bought alternatives.
After Your Whitening Treatment
After your professional ZOOM whitening is complete, we will give you a set of post-procedure instructions. Be sure to wait at least 30 minutes before brushing, eating, or drinking anything other than water. The American Dental Association (ADA) also recommends sticking to white or light foods in the hours and days following your appointment.
It is important to note, teeth whitening is an ongoing process that provides temporary results. However, reducing your consumption of wine, coffee, teas, and acidic foods can significantly improve the longevity of each treatment. Proper brushing and flossing can also keep your smile more beautiful by reducing plaque and tartar buildup.
